The Primer book takes the first 3 weeks of the note reading method and further simplifies it all the way to a 4 year old level if needed.

I have recently begun teaching note-reading using Jon's method, and I teach two of my husbands siblings. My father-in-law has never read music in his life, but sings in his ward choir. I have spent hours playing his part over and over so he can learn it.
